The Abyss
Dan Fauci, creator of the Mastery of Self-Expression and Leadership and Creativity workshops, will be leading The Abyss supported by Jill Kennedy.
The Abyss is the third workshop Dan created and is about “seeing what you cannot see.” All of us have blind-spots, aspects of ourselves or details that we cannot see or that we are unwilling to acknowledge or accept. Ideas, feelings, and emotions have become so habitual that we keep on making same choices over and over again. The Abyss is about going into the unknown and discovering what we are not able to see. Most of what we are blind to is not our faults, but our strengths. The Abyss is about liberating your power, acknowledging your strengths, and manifesting them in the world.
How do you see what you cannot see? This workshop is designed to discover the blind-spots that are actually blocking your power and creativity, to become conscious of the system you have created to see through – the perceptual filters of your maze – and to experience listening and receiving communication in a way that expands you as a human being.
Like all the workshops, this one is about doing. Through an exploration of drawing (we can all draw), poetry (free verse or rhyming), and communication, we will learn to listen to what will unleash our power.
Someone once told me a story about a select group of Russian Lancers. To belong to the group, you had to jump across an abyss with your horse every day. If you didn’t make it across, you disappeared into the abyss. What is the abyss? No one knows until you jump into it. - Dan
The workshop is only open to Mastery graduates and is rarely offered in Canada. In the 12 years I’ve been part of the Mastery community, it has never been run here. When Dan told me he was open to coming up to Vancouver to run the program, I jumped on the opportunity to learn from him and grow myself. The workshop will be run from Friday Feb 6th to Sunday Feb 8th 2009 at the Cambrian Hall in Vancouver. The hours are roughly the same as the Mastery, beginning at 5:30 on Friday, finishing up Sunday evening.
The cost of the workshop is $795 +GST if paid in full by January 9th. After which time, it costs $895 +GST. There is limited enrollment in the workshop and it will be on a first come first serve basis, so if you are interested in taking part in this exciting weekend, make sure to enroll with me, Jill Kennedy asap. Contact me at jillkennedy@shaw.ca to register or for more information.
Come Jump into the Abyss with Us!
EXCITING NEWS from Larry gilman and Trish Brydon - just 5 spots left in the November Vancouver NEXT STEP workshop!
Registration deadline September 22nd or sooner if the workshop fills up before then!! WILL YOU JOIN US?

The trailer for the newest documentary ‘WhatIf? The Movie’ by James Sinclair can be found at www.whatifthemovie.tv
It is about the tremendous possibilities in our lives if we weren’t programmed into our belief systems and patterns since birth, and how we can change that which isn’t serving us now from many perspectives. Please note the website is currently under construction, just up yesterday. There are a few areas that need correction, but at least the trailer is available to view as is the ‘cast’ of contributing interviews to the movie so you can view who’s in it if interested.
The actual movie (full length documentary) should be available within the next couple of weeks, and contains 32 interviews with many noteworthy souls you will recognize for their groundbreaking work (Dr. Bruce Lipton, Dr. Bernie Sigel, Dr. Joe Dispenza, Dr. Emoto, etc.) and known for their books, quantum physics, scientific research, etc. Apparently the movie is excellent, though I will be ordering my copy soon.

Friday Night Lights
It’s Friday night at Mastery. Do you remember being excited, a little nervous (or a lot nervous), maybe a little compressed or crunchy –you know stiff, trying not to be noticed, unsure, and insecure? That space where you are both afraid of things changing in your life, and excited, in the same moment. That space is the juice of a person who is on a path of growth.
If life is always safe, no risk, no fearful moments, (the “Holy Shit What I am doing here” moments), then we are dying. Everything that is alive, in every moment, is either growing or dying –there is no standing still.
It is the people who show up at Mastery, as each of us did, in all their stuff, all their fears around change and the unknown, that I admire most. Each of us has a choice to stay in our familiar zone (which often is not comfortable), OR to venture into the unknown, with the hope that there is something wonderful for us along the way.
So what are you doing to stretch yourself? How about a Firewalk (Sept 20th-see notice), or that difficult conversation you have been putting off, or just showing up for your Mastery groups meeting.
Each of us can continue to push the envelope, to feel the fear and the excitement of a new experience, and to IMPRESS ourselves with our willingness to risk. It is through that risk that we truly build a sense of self-worth. And a higher value for ourselves creates magic in our lives. It allows us to step out even farther next time opportunity knocks (just say yes is my motto), so we grow even more. It allows us to be a role model, a beacon, to others who may become curious enough about what has changed us, to start their own journey. And I believe as we grow we become more tolerant, less judgemental of others.
Every person I meet no matter how stuck, or how crunchy they are in their lives, is just another soul sitting in their Friday night. Maybe they are waiting for you to show up as an example of what could be, in their lives. So shine your self-worth, your high opinion of yourself, your willingness to take on what is difficult to get to the goodies on the other side. Just maybe you will inspire another soul to start a journey that will move them out of their Friday night towards the radiant beauty of their lives that is Sunday night at the Mastery.
Next time you meet someone that pushes your buttons, that brings up a negative judgement, REMEMBER –that is probably how you showed up on Friday night of Mastery. In 2 and a half days they could have the same glow and joy and smiling face that you had on Sunday night.
21/2 days to change a soul. So go ahead and judge (you will anyway), AND have the compassion to see them at their Sunday night, even if they can’t.
Oh Yeah, and give them a Mastery brochure!!!!

Calling It Forth Meditation
Go to your special place before beginning, someplace in nature perhaps, or someplace where you can be alone to feel the utmost reverence for you. Call to your entity; those who walk with you, and all loving universal energies to assist you in this most sacred request. Go inside, raise your frequencies by loving, and then center. Know that the works you about to utter will change your life forever.
No now, say out loud with purposeful intent:
"From the Light of God that I Am, I call forth unto my world all lessons and learning that I have not yet allowed myself to experience. I ask, in fact, I insist, that all such lessons be drawn to me in the vibration of peace, never in the pain of unaware chaos.
"I ask that those who walk with me help me to see the lessons in the experiences to come, that these experiences no longer be random events of circumstances, but happenings in which I can find the healing and the fulfillment I so deeply desire to have.
"I fervently ask that if I do not immediately see a lesson, or do not immediately allow myself to feel and own the emotions of the lesson in which I may be involved - no matter how painful that emotion may be - that I be gently and lovingly shown how to allay my anxieties in order to allow the experience of fully owning the emotions.
" I call this forth in the name of That Which I Am, in the full knowing that as I have spoken, so it shall be. So be it."
Take several long moments to feel a sense of excitement and anticipation for what you have just done. No step shall ever be bigger, no call ever more joyously received in the heavens than this. You are greatly loved... and treasured... and adored. Feel it, and come back.
Insight: When one calls forth and owns all that remains to be cleared, that one - a master indeed - shall know empowerment, and the empowerment shall be JOY!!
Every time we think in a constructive, positive, visionary manner, we are helping all people. The affirmation we boldly state on our own behalf has an effect on everyone in our system. Our system is first our immediate loved ones, then friends, then coworkers, then culture and on into the whole of humanity. Contrary to how it looks, we are not separate beings operating strictly as individuals. Although we are whole in our own right, we are at the same time, part of a system that is greater than its parts but which depends on its parts to fully function.
The exciting aspect of systems is that what emerges from them is far beyond what any one of the parts could generate alone. Quantum Physics refers to this as “emergent properties” of the system (called a Holon.)
This is why it is so satisfying to be in a group of like-minded friends or to meditate together. There is a sense of the power of shared focus. On the other hand, public discourse where there is debate is also healthy as it is part of the self-organizing tendency of the system. If we only knew how needed our voices are, how influential we can be, how much there is to learn from each other, we would get out there and vote and promote and debate and challenge old beliefs which are standing in the way of a system leap.
In simple spiritual terms we would follow the advice of the ancients: Don’t hide your light. Let it shine and help create an illuminated new world view!
Classical Music
I agreed to contribute a short TIPS item to the newsletter when I asked our Mastery grads to commit to listening to one piece of Classical music before Christmas. The TIPS contribution would be recommendations of pieces to listen to. The idea is that the feeling we all left Mastery with, can be helped to be recreated by music and since most people don't listen to classical , they are missing out on some incredible "feeling" music. Many classical composers really GOT through music, what Master of Self Expression is about. So.... here are my suggestions.
- BACH - Air on a G String ( you'll know this one already)
- BACH - Sheep May Safely Graze , otherwise called "Wachet Auf"
- Barber - Adagio for Strings ( sit down for this one and just listen )
- Mozart - start with piano concerti. Any Mozart is great. There is a series called The Mozart Effect - CD's to play that supposedly increase certain waves in your brain ( or your kids ) to stay calm, make you smarter, great to put on in the background if you are reading or learning something.
- Stravinsky - The Firebird ( Very Appropriate for Grads as it is an old Russian folk-tale about coming back to life !)
- Holst - The Planets ( no Pluto but the other planets depicted are incredible - MARS - the God of War - the guys will love this one )
- Mussorgsky / Ravel - Pictures at an Exhibition - each mov't depicts a painting
- Ravel - Bolero ( listen to this one and you'll walk out the door really swinging your hips 100%)
Any of these will be available on iTunes . Classical Cd stores seem to be going the way of the dinosaur, but a friend of mine runs one in Edmonton called The Gramophone on 109th Street . The owner is Bryan Taylor. Tell him I sent you ! They order and ship for you.
You may be asked WHO you want playing the piece you order. My recommendation is that you can't go wrong starting at the top. Berlin Philharmonic ( look for Karajan or Rattle conducting ), Vienna Philharmonic, London Symphony Orchestra , the Montreal Symphony Orchestra has a great recording of the Planets with Dutoit conducting .
Email me for any help you may need.

HOW WILL YOU BE REMEMBERED?
By Janet K. Slemko
Every decision and every interaction leaves an impact. In
every moment we leave behind something, whether we are
aware of it, or not. Is the legacy you are leaving accidental
or is it something you want to be remembered for?
Effective leadership is more than just producing results.
Leadership is a series of choices. As leaders we are
constantly required to balance trade-offs between our
personal interests and those of the greater good. Today’s
successful leaders understand they have a responsibility to
make the world a better place.
By asking ourselves how we want to be remembered we
set the stage for living a life on purpose. This question asks
us to think about our actions in the larger context of impact
and to look beyond immediate short-term success. The
future can be an incredibly exciting time of opportunities
when we make the choice to embrace change and turn our
dreams into reality.
Big dreams stretch us and pull us forward. They connect
us to our hearts and provide focus and meaning. They lie
outside of our comfort zone and call us forth to a greater
expression of creativity. By making a decision and taking
a stand we can influence and shape the future. To live
a legacy is to imagine a brighter future – a future of
possibilities and to intentionally align our actions to support
a new direction.
Ray Anderson, chairman of Interface, one of the world’s
largest interior furnishing companies, made the decision to
protect the environment while increasing profits.
After reading the book Ecology of Commerce, Anderson
realized that industry was systematically destroying the
planet and that the only people who could stop the
destruction were the leaders of industry. He developed a
strategy called “ Doing Well By Doing Good”.
He totally changed how they did business and took steps
to reduce the company’s waste and conserve energy. At
the time, more than six tons of carpet trimmings from the
manufacturing process were being sent to the landfill per
day. In three years, waste was decreased to virtually zero.
Then he shifted his focus to helping others follow the same
path. He educated customers and developed partnerships to
create new materials derived from plants.
By weaving our legacy into everything we do, as an
organization and individually, we can consciously choose to
influence and shape the future. But there is no roadmap
guiding the way. Leaders see a bigger picture and hold onto
a vision and ideals of what can be. Visions come from the
heart. They describe our reason for being and sustain us
through tough times. A clearly defined vision sets a standard
for coordinated activity and acts as a bridge between the
present and the future.
Values supply the context and meaning for the vision.
By defining what we stand for, values bring our vision
to life. They describe a standard for decisions and serve
as a guideline for day-to-day actions. But it’s through
our decisions that we create the change we want. Every
decision creates an opportunity for something new –
something not even possible until we made the decision to
move forward. Commitment turns dreams into action. What
are you committed to? What is your legacy?
To clarify what’s important, take time over the next few
weeks to think about the following questions:
How do I want to be remembered?
What idea or dream have I put on hold?
What do I stand for and believe in?
What are my unique strengths as a leader?
What are our strengths as an organization?
What could we do differently?
