THE NEXT STEP is coming to ALBERTA!
Hi everyone! I wanted to share a bit on the power of commitment and to invite you to commit to being part of Alberta’s first The Next Step! I recently volunteered at the October Mastery in Edmonton. What a blast! I was not at all expecting to experience the Mastery at a whole new level. The weekend was an amazing boost for me and yet I almost didn’t go.
The only reason I showed up was because at the last Mastery that I volunteered for, in the heat of passion at the end of the weekend, I stood on the stage and promised to be at the next few Edmonton Masteries. Yet 6 months later I was caught up in the details of my life, and I was relieved when the Edmonton Mastery was cancelled (I see now that a deeper commitment would have included telling more people about the next Mastery weekend) but I did put my name forth again for the next one.
The whole week before this last Mastery, I kept trying to talk myself out of going. I rationalized that there seemed to be tons of volunteers and that it wasn’t a big deal if I didn’t go. I was not at all connected with the value that I would get out of the weekend and it seemed like a chore that was taking me away from better things.
I now am clear that when I am full of passion, my higher self is making the decisions. Spirit is moving me to commit, and then if I am wise enough to follow through with my commitment, magic will happen. What a huge opportunity I had to learn the value of commitments made during my passion!
In the height of my passion at the last Mastery, I realized that I want to take The Next Step and soon. (Unfortunately earlier this year, when I heard about The Next Step, I had no interest because I had been away for too long and had forgot what the Mastery does for me.) So I contacted Trish Brydon and found out that if there is enough interest, they are willing to look at doing one later in 2008 in Vancouver. If we have a ton of interest, we may yet be able to have one here.
With so many people having graduated in Calgary and Edmonton in the last year or two, it is very feasible to fill The Next Step. We owe it to ourselves to take that amazing experience and continue it. What better gift could you give yourself and your loved ones this Christmas than taking your growth to the next level?
I urge you to contact Shilo or myself and make that commitment from your passion for life, not from you logical, mundane mind. I think that we can get enough people to have Alberta’s first Next Step in 2008! I hope you’ll be one of the steppers!

December 2007
2007 is drawing to a close with the Mastery community thriving in Alberta. We had 69 new Mastery graduates this year over the four Masteries held. Welcome to you all and thank you to all of you who supported the Mastery this year in your many ways. You have truly changed people’s lives for the better.
The Calgary Masteries were well supported again and it’s wonderful to have the Edmonton community revived. I had missed connecting with you fabulous Edmonton folks so really enjoyed my time there in October getting to see some of you again in addition to meeting the new grads. I can’t wait to do it all over again there in June!
We also had a number of Alberta Mastery graduates make the trek out to Vancouver for the Leadership workshop in the spring and the Next Step workshop in the fall. It so great to have the cross-pollination of the two communities where each gets to learn from the other.
There have been a number of requests for both programs to be run again there in Alberta and we’re working on getting both there at some time in 2008 or in early 2009. Please see the website for more information on both programs and stay tuned for future emails confirming dates.

As the year comes to a close it is a natural time for reflection. To measure where we have come in this year, and to examine our goals still waiting to be realized.
Far too often I focus on the gap (the shortfall) between what out I set out to accomplish and where I ended up. If I happen to meet or exceed the goal, well, it is off to the next one, with hardly a nod to the success.
Take time to be aware of progress. It is the forward movement that is truly the measure of our success, however, it only counts if you notice and celebrate the accomplishment.
Every ounce lost, every extra dollar saved or invested, every project closer to completion, every increased second of being present in the moment –celebrate outrageously.
I know each and every Mastery grad has had changes in their life this year. For some it may be a subtle shift of perspective, causing you to see your life in a new way.
For others there have been wholesale changes since your Mastery.
For each of you I encourage you to look at life B.M. and life A.M. (Before Mastery and After Mastery).
Celebrate the progress and changes in your life with “Abandonment and Glee”, and celebrate the great force that caused the changes –YOU.
You are a marvel in this universe, and a rarity on this planet. One who is aware of yourself as the source of everything that is showing up in your life, AND open to changing the parts that do not work.
Wherever you are in the journey of your life I want to acknowledge you for the steps you are taking to create more love and joy and happiness for yourself, and those around you.
And keep using this amazing community, that I am so blessed to be a part of, to grow your world and keep it moving towards your goals.
The most beautiful, brilliant, heart-warming people in MY world are Mastery grads.
I give thanks often for the insights of my own group, the Leadership, and more importantly the friendship, of Jill and Larry and the open arms of the 100’s of grads in Alberta that so enrich my life. And of course my lovely partner Shilo and I get to have a Mastery experience every day.
So THANK YOU to the creators and pioneers of Mastery (Dan Fauci, Larry Gilman, Jill Kennedy, Daniel, Marianna, Cat, Andrew, wherever you are), you have enriched my life beyond measure. And I thank you even more for the effect you are having on our children, by allowing us Adults to exorcise our demons and live our lives more fully.
Yeah I have a lot to be thankful for this past year and next year will be even better. But the place to be during the holidays is the present –that is where all the goodies are.
May you and your families enjoy all the presents and presence of this special time of year.

A group of students were asked to list what they thought were the present Seven Wonders of the World. Though there was some disagreement, the following got the most votes:

While gathering the votes, the teacher noted that one quiet student hadn't turned in her paper yet. So she asked the girl if she was having trouble with her list. The girl replied, "Yes, a little. I couldn't quite make up my mind
because there were so many."
The teacher said, "Well, tell us what you have, and maybe we can help."
The girl hesitated, then read, "I think the Seven Wonders of the World are:

This sort of crime never occurred to me, especially since many of us never leave the side of our car when pumping gas anymore.
